That's what many folks who bore the brunt of Sandy's wrath are saying. Next time, I'm leaving. We've heard it after other hurricanes too. People think that because it's not a category 4 or 5, or because they've never before been devastated by one, that they'll be able to ride out the storm. What we've been seeing on the news for the past week is the aftermath we've talked about for years here in the Savannah media.
I'm very saddened about what's happened to the state I called home for the first 22 years of my life, New Jersey. The facebook posts and messages I've seen from friends are heartbreaking, as well as inspiring. They need our help. Governor Christie and his wife have set up a fund to help folks get through the time between initial FEMA and Red Cross aid to getting insurance reimbursements and getting back on their feet. Please check out his website and think about donating.
There are other ways to help, too. I have to run now, but I'll add them later.
Thanks,
Laura
