So, the City of Savannah is now accepting applications from the public for boards, commissions and authorities.  Most of the divisions are ones we've heard of, such as the Metropolitan Planning Commission and the Historic District Board of Review. 

And then there's the TRAFFIC CALMING COMMITTEE.  Really?!  What the heck is that?  Whoever's been on this board in the past has done a LOUSY job, so PLEASE apply now and get Savannah traffic calm.  Wouldn't that cause a drop in Xanax prescriptions in the area...

TRAFFIC CALMING COMMITTEE: The Traffic Calming Committee shall consist of nine (9) members all of whom shall be approved by vote of the Mayor and Aldermen.  The term of office for each member of the Traffic Calming Committee shall be three years, except that of those members first appointed, three shall be appointed for one year, three for two years, and three for three years.  When the terms of these first appointed shall expire, their successors shall be appointed for three-year terms.  A member of the Traffic Calming Committee shall not serve for more than two consecutive, three year terms. The members of the Traffic Calming Committee shall be a demographically broad representation of the community in the Savannah Metropolitan Area with an interest in Traffic Calming. Committee members must live in the City limits of Savannah.  Appointments can come from any district, but individuals from District 1 and District 2 are encouraged to apply.  Three (3) staggered terms are available for appointment.

 No applications will be accepted after noon on Nov. 2.

Upon completion of the appointment process, all applicants and appointees will be notified.
