Hello, it's Michael Jordan!

Fifty years ago this week, history sailed into Savannah as the NS (Nuclear Ship) Savannah made its maiden voyage to our city.  The Savannah was a new kind of vessel—the world’s first nuclear-powered cargo and passenger ship.  An estimated 100,000 people River Street to watch the ship arrived, and thousands went aboard for tours over the next several days.

This Wednesday, I’ve helped plan a big event in honor of this important anniversary.  We’ll be dedicating a historical marker outside the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center at 5pm, followed by a reception sponsored by the Propeller Club.  You can learn more about the ship and Wednesday’s event on a special website I’ve set up, www.ns-savannah.com.
