Hardeeville Mayor signs emergency declaration

The City of Hardeeville cares for the health and well-being of its residents as well as its visitors. City leadership, including public safety and emergency management officials continue to closely monitor developments related to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19.

In an effort to prevent the spread of the virus, the City of Hardeeville has implemented a COVID-19 operations plan beginning March 16 at 5pm until further notice. The City Council of Hardeeville has declared a State of Emergency effective March 16 at 5pm until further notice. The goal of the plan is to minimize exposure between City staff and the public. To do so, City staff is implementing social distancing techniques as recommended by the Center for Disease Control. The plan is subject to change to include essential departments possibly changing to non-essential status. Changes to this plan impacting the at-large community shall be made public.

Many City locations remain open, but staff will conduct internal and external business telephonically and electronically as much as possible. We ask citizens to proactively limit their interactions with City staff as much as possible and do as much business as possible with the City online or over the phone. Citizens are asked to contact the City via phone at 843-784-2231 prior to visiting a City building in person.

Emergency and public safety services remain available as normal.

City Council Meetings

The Hardeeville City Council plans to hold its currently scheduled meetings during the declaration of emergency; but, in the interest of public health and due to the coronavirus outbreak, citizens are encouraged to watch the meetings from home and are reminded that all City Council meetings are broadcast on Hargray Channel 117 and Spectrum Channel 1305 as well as live streamed on all City of Hardeeville Social Media Page and the City Website at www.hardeevillesc.gov. As always, public comments and public hearing comments are accepted in writing via email to the Clerk of Council at lpomarico@hardeevillesc.gov and the Deputy Clerk of Council at emeador@hardeevillesc.gov or via postal mail at PO Box 609, Hardeeville SC 29927. If you do attend the meeting, please practice social distancing, limit physical contact and maintain at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and other individuals. Other City-sponsored public meetings are subject to cancellation or postponement. Updates will be provided on the City’s website calendar at www.hardeevillesc.gov

Municipal Court

The City shall follow the order issued by the Chief Justice of the SC Supreme Court postponing all jury trials, roll calls and any other larger gatherings such as traffic court. The Court shall be available to accept filings, payments, transmission of necessary information to SLED and/or NCIC, and maintain compliance with financial accounting. Please call the Court at 843-784-3366 for assistance prior to visiting the Court.
