For Effingham County: Yes there is school on Tuesday!

EEMA has been monitoring the changes to Hurricane Dorian. We have activated our Emergency Operations Center to Level 2 for extended hours and resource allocation.

Starting 8AM Tuesday, Sept 3 westward contraflow on I-16 will begin to assist with coastal evacuations. You will not be able to use this route to go east of Effingham.

Sand bags will be available 8AM tomorrow at Freedom Park (Hwy 21 next to Lowe's) in Rincon.

County offices will be closed Tuesday, Sept 3 and Wednesday, Sept 4.

Guyton City Hall will be closed Tuesday, Sept 3 and Wednesday, Sept 4.

Springfield City Hall will be closed Tuesday, Sept 3 and Wednesday, Sept 4.

Rincon City Hall will be open Tuesday, Sept 3, but will close Wednesday, Sept 4.

Effingham County Schools will be in regular session on Tuesday, Sept 3. Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Sept 4.

All Effingham County Recreation activities have been cancelled through Thursday, Sept 5.

Atlantic Waste will run normal collections Tuesday, Sept 3 but will be closed Wednesday and possibly Thursday; and will run additional routes this weekend to catch up.

Independent Shelters Opening Tuesday, Sept 3 at 6PM

Any Effingham resident seeking the use of these shelters will need to bring their own food/drink, toiletry items, bedding, and clothes. These shelters are for Effingham residents only.
